Well that’s a bit of a difficult one isn’t it?
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s January, very cold, most of the time dark and grey let’s face it it’s not easy.
But it’s not insurmountable and let’s face it before you know it spring will be here and then you’ll be kicking yourself for not continuing with your weight loss.RELATED: RECOMMENDED PLANS FOR YOU
So how can you keep weight loss motivation against all odds?
Ok for a start, mind set. And luckily there are several ways of tackling this.
Firstly have you set yourself a realistic goal? Not you need to lose 25 lbs in 2 weeks but something that is do-able. Suppose you do want to lose 25 lbs, break it down into doable chunks. Two and half pounds a week is very sensible and ten weeks not too long a time to achieve this. So that’s a good start.
Weigh yourself once a week. First thing in the morning. Mark it down in a book with the date. And if your goal is two and half pounds a week and you lose 4lbs the first week well done. And reward yourself. Not with a big slap up meal that will totally undo all your good work but go to a movie with a friend, treat yourself to a spa treatment, a new lipstick, some perfume, spend time with a friend, have some quiet time for yourself, an hour to just curl up and chill, read a book. There’s all sorts of fun ways you can treat yourself that doesn’t have to involve food.
This weight loss journal should show the date, your weight, the goal you want to achieve in a week’s time and the reward you want to take.
The motivation this will give you will be enormous. As the weeks roll on and you can see in your journal how well you’re doing it will inspire you to keep going. You’ll also be able to see in the mirror how well you’re doing and the rewards will be bringing some fun into your life as well.
So how else can you keep your weight loss motivation against all odds? Well if you’re like lots of people there will be people in your life who will try and detract from your goals. And sometimes they’re not easy to ignore.
This is where more mind set comes into play.
Saying ‘be determined’ can mean absolutely nothing when you’ve got family demanding comforting food, friends who want you to come out for dinner or drinks, colleagues who go to the pub at lunchtime or in the evening and expect you to join in.
A very wise man once said “motivation is like bathing you need to do it every day for it to be effective”. So here’s what I recommend.
As well as the journal when you start your weight loss programme start talking to yourself.
The subconscious has no sense of humour and what you tell it, it believes and will act upon.
Believe if you ‘put it out there’ it will happen. It’s known to many as the “Law of Attraction” and like any law it has ‘rules’ You’ve probably been using the Law all your life but maybe you’re not actually aware of it.
It’s very simple. What you ‘put out there’ is what comes back to you.
Every single thought you have whether good or bad will manifest itself into your life. If you wake up on Monday morning and say “yuch it’s Monday I hate my job it’s a horrid day”. I guarantee you will have a bad day. It will live down to your expectations. If however you say “yes it’s Monday and today is going to be a great day because I choose it to be”. It will be. It’s magic.
So what you need to do for your weight loss motivation against all odds is when you wake first thing say “I have a happy healthy slender body. I will eat healthily because I choose to. I love my body and therefore I will only eat foods that make me feel good.”
And you need to keep saying it over and over and over again. When you worry about stuff you go over it over and over again. So why wouldn’t you do this?
Now you might not believe that to begin with but it’s a fact that any habit can be ingrained into your subconscious in 21 days. Twenty One days. Three short weeks and you will be able to keep your weight loss motivation against all odds.
