What is positivity? Is it a positive thought or a positive act?
Each person will have their own definition of positivity. It may be a thought that makes you smile, one that makes you laugh or makes you want to go and help others in some way.

Positivity may be the thing that makes you want to jump out of bed and start the day. It could be that light feeling you get when you are doing things that make others happy. Positivity is going into your day with a lightened feeling to your body

Positivity can turn bad thoughts into good ones. A positive thought can make waiting for the bus a pleasurable experience. By smiling and forgiving the person who stood on your toe in the packed tube, you can turn negativity into positivity.

Losing positivity
The minute you lose your temper, when you snap when someone bashes your leg with a briefcase, then you have lost the spirit of positivity. There is no positivity to be found in an environment of anger.

It is important to realise that positivity is a gift, and it is a gift that will bring joy to those who have it. So smile at someone on that packed train and they will receive the gift of positivity. By giving a positive moment, you also gave a moment of happiness. Wow, you are fantastic! And you have learnt a valuable lesson – to keep a positive thought to yourself is a negative act!

What does this mean? Well to keep all the good thoughts to yourself will cause a blockage in the flow of good thoughts. This turns all that positivity into a negative. To give is to receive, don’t you feel good when you give a gift?

Our example, a positive thought, is just another gift that you can give. And it might be just what the recipient needed to brighten his or her life at that moment.

Be open to positivity
And if you can master the skill of ‘creation’ – that is…. being open and receptive to positive thoughts – then you will get bigger, greater, more positive thoughts. This creates an aura of happiness about your self that attracts good things to you.

That briefcase bashing your leg was an accident. You lost a positive thought when you let yourself get angry, but you have the opportunity to regain your positivity again by smiling at the person who accidently bashed you.

You are all winners. They win a smile of forgiveness and you win your positivity back.

And if they don’t accept your smile of forgiveness, but remain miserable, then they were not the one who was open to the positive thought that you lost!

Regaining good thoughts

Yet you have regained your happiness and created a space for another positive thought. Take a look down that train. As you are grinning from ear to ear, is anyone else smiling. If they are, great, you have passed on positivity. But if nonone else is smiling, do not let that stop you. Positivity is protection against mental and physical ailments. It is a battle to keep positive when all around you are not, but it is a battle worth winning. When you are happy and healthy and they are still coughing, spluttering, sneezing and looking miserable.
