How you begin your day will determine the rest of your day and lays the foundations for better habits and a more productive week.
Have you ever wondered why some people are able to wake up happy, vibrant and full of life everyday?
Start your day off rightRELATED: RECOMMENDED PLANS FOR YOU
These people have made a choice, they start their day off the way they want to live their lives, they cultivate consistent daily rituals that make them happy, healthy and abundant – they have decided to live their lives this way.
I wanted to share my morning Rituals with you, these are the things I do every day to help start my day and have made a difference in my life, they keep me full of energy, help me be more productive and keep me passionate about the life I have chosen to lead.
It is not about natural ability, talent or an advantage over everyone, it is about making a choice and deciding.
Here are my seven morning rituals, try these for a healthier, happier lifestyle:
1. Let in the light
Natural light can boost your mood and even counteract depression. Getting some sunlight is perfect but using a daylight lamp or an alarm with a sunrise light function can be very useful in the UK in the winter
You will begin to feel great immediately, give it a try. You can’t be sad or mad and happy at the same time, so smile I know you want to.
Drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning is an excellent way to get your body ready for the day and balance your digestive system. Lemon water will give you a boost of vitamin C, potassium, and energy.
Lemon water also helps with fresh breath, clear skin; it reduces inflammation, helps flush out toxins and aids weight loss.
Meditation will help you centre yourself, create intentions and help you become more focused and empowered. When you find inner awareness through meditation you have access to infinite truth and everlasting joy, and can easily control your outer life. We always grow from within, not from without
5. Gratitude Journal/Daily Intentions
Focus on what you have in your life and what you are grateful for, list at least three things every day that you are grateful for, mentally or on paper.
Map out your intentions for the day each day; it is an excellent way to keep your goals on track and once your day’s intentions and tasks are on paper, you don’t need to worry about trying to remember them all.
What am I happy about in my life right now?
What am I excited about in my life right now?
What am I proud of in my life?
What am I grateful for in my life?
Do some form of exercise, stretches, yoga or go for a walk. Even if it is just for five minutes get your body moving, focus on your breath, and start the day in a peaceful, positive, and productive way.
This will then follow you through the rest of your day keeping you peaceful, positive and productive all day.
Make sure to eat protein with your breakfast, protein powder in your green smoothie is a great way to start the day. Proteins will keep you fuller for longer, it will help with your energy levels, clarity and focus. Carbohydrates and sugary cereals first thing in the morning can cause a spike and inevitable crash in your blood sugar.
Start today… or first thing tomorrow!
In my opinion your morning ritual is the most important part of your day. Be kind to yourself, engage your mind, body and spirit and set positive intentions that get you into the right state of mind for the day ahead.
Go ahead and create your own morning ritual and stick to it – try it for at least 30 days.
