As a Holistic Healer I always look at the “whole person” in order to make a complete evaluation and then use all of the information gathered before suggesting any treatment.

The treatment offered would then be a combination of techniques, tools and therapies to help the client work towards overall health, happiness and abundance in all areas of their lives.

Each piece of the puzzle

Although a holistic therapist is often sought out as a result of physical pain or discomfort, the treatment prescribed will be to reduce the pain, or discomfort but using a whole lifestyle approach.

In many therapies physical health is the main focus, whereas with holistic therapy physical health is only one piece of the puzzle.

It is not necessarily an alternative to conventional medicine as the therapist seeks to work with the client and sometimes going to a medical professional may be part of the solution.

As mentioned, Holistic also known as “wholistic” healing, addresses all parts of the individual not just the physical aspects. Physical illnesses are often just the symptoms of a greater imbalance and the root cause may not always be physical but could be emotional and can be on many levels.

It is not intended as a one-time fix but is an ongoing journey of discovery, learning to live better, being healthier, happier and striving for abundant health and happiness.

The holistic approach deals with the mind, body and spirit to find ways of achieving and maintaining optimal health and happiness. All parts of a person’s life – physical health, mental health and wellness, emotional well-being and spiritual values and beliefs – are taking into account using tools that help the client find their own personal power.

There are a number of holistic therapies available, keep in mind that not all holistic healers are equal, each will have their own speciality or expertise and, as with everything, you need to find a good fit for you.

As mentioned above, the holistic healer recognises that most discomfort and pain are symptoms of an imbalance within the body and this imbalance could be physical due to an injury in which case medical intervention may be required or working with another therapist with a specific speciality such as an osteopath.

Physical imbalance can also be due to an unhealthy diet, toxicity, stress, dehydration, lack of exercise or too little sleep. Or it may be due to mental, emotional or spiritual needs not being met.

Remember that no aspect of a person is overlooked with holistic treatment – mind, body, spirit and emotional health will all be taken into account.
