How to get healthy?

This is a question that resides at the front of the mind at this time of year, especially as January approaches. What can you do this coming year to have the healthiest time of your life?

Well, the answer comes down to knowing who you want to be next year and what you want for the rest of your life.

What do you want?

Do you want to be full of energy? Do you want to be able to achieve at a high level on a daily basis?

Do you want to have experiences every day that enrich your life and create lasting memories and outcomes that match your expectations in life? Do you want to feel good?

Do you want to be your best, do your best and have your best in life right now and for time to come?

It’s time for a change

Wanting these things is normal. Why would we want anything else? And yet, on a daily basis, we’ll find ourselves making the same choices and decisions that keep us from what we want.

Therefore, this January, for 2016, you’re going to wipe the slate clean and start your health kick like you’ve never done it before.

Are you ready?

The first step is to stop wanting all those things I mentioned above

Stop wanting the weight loss, stop wanting to look better, stop wanting the feeling better, stop wanting the promotion, stop wanting the relationship, stop wanting the money…just stop wanting!

This will be your new motto for 2016.

If you’re aiming for 150 lbs. instead of 190 lbs. just tell yourself I will have that weight. I will have that figure. If you’re aiming to have no back pain, just tell yourself I will have that healthy back – I will have movement in my life.

These definitive statements, these clear objectives will give you a clear target to shoot for when starting your health kick for 2016.

Basically, by deciding you will have that, you will wipe the slate clean of living in a wanting, needing state. No more being needing or feeling like you’re always lacking and always in search of wanting something you don’t have.

You want it? You got it! Just start telling yourself you will have that. Agreed?

Create a new you

The next step in wiping the slate clean and starting over is to stop focusing on what you want to have and create a new definition of who you are, who you are going to be, and what you’re going to do to have the best and healthiest year of your life.

Knowing who you are, why you’re interested in making these changes and what you’re willing to do (aka sacrifice) to make those changes happen will support positive results.

After all, it starts and stops with you.

For example: if you are a happy person and like being happy but lately you find yourself sad, angry or generally not yourself, make the decision to be happy again. You can find the silver lining in situations, spin events and challenges to opportunities, and you can keep people from stealing your joy.

Be all those things you know and trust about yourself regardless of your circumstances and then use that personality, your strongest characteristics, to do what you plan to do to reach your goals.
