Mmm, chocolate! How amazingly delicious is that word? You can feel yourself melting as you pronounce it. It makes you smile and go warm on the inside. There’s probably already a big grin on tour face!
And then it’s spoiled by somebody tells you: “chocolate is not good for you!” “Chocolate makes you fat!”
How is it possible that something so glorious could be bad for us? Impossible! Right? Well, yes and no. There are always two sides of the coin to everything in our life. It depends how you see it and what it’s made off.RELATED: RECOMMENDED PLANS FOR YOU
Chocolate itself is incredibly healthy
Cacao beans that have been used to make these little bites of pleasure as powerful antioxidants, full of vitamins, good fats and flavonoids. That’s what we call chocolate.
Yes, that’s true that chocolate is super healthy, good for you and improves your mood as it triggers those bundles of joy inside of you called endorphins. They start “running around ” your body bringing happiness and smiles.
That’s why our mood is uplifted after ingesting a chocolate.
But not just any chocolate. To get all those amazing benefits of it, it has to be a very good quality and pure product without any extras. Another benefit of dark chocolate is a release of serotonin – mood regulating chemical that can act as anti-depressant.
Let’s take a look at the most common chocolate bars sold
What are the ingredients lists? Is it just all natural? Unfortunately not!
Look closely at the list. What do you see? Refined Sugars, saturated fats, stabilisers, dairy, colourings and many other additives that make this beautiful product not so beautiful anymore.
You might think you are doing yourself a favour by eating ” chocolate ” but the truth is that’s just a bar full of sugar with a little bit of cocoa. Huge difference. You would be so much better off making your own chocolates or chocolate dessert. And it is super easy.
Delicious & Nutritious Chocolate Mousse
You will need:

– Cinnamon, Vanilla cream (organic), Nutmeg, Cardamon (ground)- add it all to coconut yogurt

I love to use a large round glass so I can see all the beautiful colours.
Just place all the ingredients in thin layers:
1. 1/4 banana cream, followed by few fresh berries
2. Then 1/2 slices of baked cinnamon apples and coconut yogurt mix with raw cocoa
3. Sprinkle with seeds, pitted dates thinly layered and repeat.
4. Top up with the rest of fresh berries and sprinkle with the rest of the seeds.
Have your choc and eat it
You see how easy and fast it is to make your own super healthy and yummy treat that not only will satisfy your taste buds but also will make your body release so many endorphins that you will forget about all the stress in your day.
You can have chocolate and enjoy it daily as long as it’s a real, organic and raw cocoa and of course in small quantities. As too much of even a good thing can be unhealthy for your body and mind.
Ok, maybe I’m a bit optimistic. Not everyone will jump straight into making their own chocolates.
Choose the good chocolates
There are few very good brands that sell a very high quality chocolate. Go for organic and at least 85% + chocolate. It’s very rich in cocoa and flavour that you won’t even want to eat a lot of it. Just a few pieces will satisfy your chocolate “demons “. Well, at least I hope so!
I really like that rich and sharp bitterness of 100% dark chocolate. In combination with organic Medjool dates it’s a perfect marriage of sweet and bitter flavours. And it’s just a powerhouse of vitamins, antioxidants, good fats, fibre and taste.
And it’s not just a good chocolate that can uplift your mental state.
Good nutrition in general is a key. Just give your body and mind all the natural food they need and you will have lots of things to smile about. It’s all about balance. Stay healthy, happy and of course have your chocolate.
