Let’s just cut to the chase… Belief is a practice

We often think it something that just happens to us, or that other people are blessed with but  the truth is our beliefs are completely within our control.

So then shouldn’t believing in yourself be easy? We write affirmations. We “think positive”. We pray. We ask for support from others.

But when comes time to step up… we step back instead.

We just “can’t”.  So what is missing?

Why “can’t” we just believe we will be successful?

I believe the source of our unbelief can often be linked to failures in our past, and our feelings linked to those failures.

If you have failed in the past and that failure brought you pain, you will likely not want to feel pain like that again.  Your brain will wire you to avoid taking those types of risks in the future.

Confident people chose to believe they will rise up to meet the challenges in front of them.

So often these days we are walking around trying to “will” ourselves into success.  If we just “think it’s possible” then we are absolutely creating the best possibility that it. Believing in yourself is the first step to success_2However…

We forget that in order to succeed we must put ourselves out there

We forget that we must put in the daily work. We forget that success often comes after many failures. The key to believing in yourself is to start putting yourself out there in small ways, so that you can achieve small wins.

Once you have a few small wins under your belt, you will start to feel a new level of self-confidence. 

With this new self-confidence you can move to the next level success with another small win. Pretty soon you will see your goal, that once seemed so far away right there in front of you. And then what excuse will you have?


It kills belief every time.  It paralyzes us.  It takes the wind from our sails and stalls us. As a result we step back…

So what is the answer facing the fears that kill our belief in ourselves?

 The answer is embracing the fear…and then moving forward through the fear.

Fear won’t kill you.

It’s your reaction to it that matters. My challenge to you is to hold onto your dream if you know it is important to you.

But move forward!

Life is short. Our time here is not long and to make a true positive impact we have to act and not cower in fear and worry. Take a step towards it.


Then take another step. Win!

By the time fear shows up, you will be able to confidently and courageously meet it, walk forward through it and out the other side.

It is up to you to be courageous enough take that walk.
