Arthritis is an inflammation of one or more joints.

There are over 150 different types of arthritis but most popular are 4 of them.


*infectious arthritis is caused by a bacterial infection as a result of wound or infection in different part of the body.

*osteoarthritis is when the cartilage between bones wears down, until bone grates on bone causing pain, inflammation and joint stiffness.

*rheumatoid arthritis is caused by an autoimmune disorder (the immune system attacks normal joint tissue for no reason) that causes inflammation of the synovial membrane ( a soft tissue that protects joints) and that can lead to bone loss.

*gout is caused by high level of uric acid in the blood. The acid accumulates in the joints forming crystals. Very often it starts with the big toe. In general gout is caused by improper kidney function.

Regardless what caused Arthritis, there are natural home remedies for arthritis to ease the symptoms and manage the pain.

*Drinking minimum of 2 litres per day flushes out the uric acid.

*Tea brews:

-briar- it is a source of antioxidants, bioflavonoids and galactolipids which prevents the development of degenerative process and delaye joints aging process.

Furthermore vitamin C in briar is indispensable for the production of collagen, which builds cartilage, improves connective tissue and is responsible for joints and tendoms condition. Drink 3 times daily.

-horsetail and yarrow- contains silicon which builds collagen and participates in the process of bone mineralisation

turmeric and ginger– are both anti-inflammatorys. The active ingredient from turmeric called curcumin is a powerful antioxidant. In addition, it lowers the levels of 2 enzymes responsible for causing inflammation. You can add 0.5 spoon of both ground ginger and ground turmeric to 500ml of boiling water and simmer for 10-12 minutes. Strain, add honey to taste and enjoy twice daily.

-dandelion- high in vitamins A and C, can help repair damaged tissue and help the liver clear toxins out of the blood. Due to contained lenoleic and linoleic acids, dandelion shows anti-inflammatory properties.

-white willow- can smoothe the pain. It contains an active ingredient called salicin which is converted in the body into salicylic acid – similar to acetyl salicylic acid, the active ingredient in aspirin. But because the naturally occurring salicin is converted after it passes through the stomach, it does not irritate it.

-juniper berry- contains the ingredient called terpinen-4-ol. Terpene suppresses monocytes, which respond to signals of inflammation.

*Salt soak relieves from pain.

*Bath with pine, fir or spruce needles or bath with the addition of their essential oils supports the elimination of uric acid and prevents water retention, also sooths the pain.

*Also bath with the addition of essential oils like rosemary, clove, lemon, lime, marjoram, eucalyptus, chamomile is very supportive with pain relief.

*Lubricating with extra virgin olive oil from out – and inside is very helpful. A main compound in extra virgin olive oil called oleocanthal inhibits inflammatory enzymes.

Rubbing a bit of oil onto sore joints twice a day can be helpful. Adding olive oil to your meal is beneficial because of omega-3 which improves joints mobility and aggravates production of hormones responsible for alleviating inflammation.

*Lubricating with natural collagen from out – and inside keeps the body young. Collagen is, the protein of youth’, which occurs in more than 30% in the total human protein weight. Collagen has a direct impact of the quality of the connective tissue.

*Poultice of cabbage leaves are another way to relief the pain. They are packed with silicon. Leaves must be smashed because the most active ingredients are in the cabbage juice. And because of it, it is recommended to drink 150ml of cabbage juice twice daily too.

And most of all healthy food is very important. The person affected with arthritis should avoid processed food full of preservatives and instead should eat freshly prepared food, especially warm meals packed with fresh aromatic herbs like garlic, ginger, coriander and cumin.
