The word Holistic is a word we hear increasingly. In fact it has become a firm fixture in the vocabulary of so many of us these days. But do we really use it in the proper context? Do we really know what it means?

Lets have a look at the definition and lets take a view of the world in which the word ‘holistic’ is probably most closely associated – therapy.

Holisitic means to look at the whole picture

The Oxford English Dictionary describes it this way;  characterized by looking at all parts of something as a whole, thus the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental, emotional, spiritual and social factors, rather than just physical symptoms.

Holistic Therapists have developed and refined the skills for assessment and management of even the most challenging cases. Going far beyond the treatment or management of any symptoms, seeking to heal the aetiology (root cause) of any issues that may be present.

Healing beyond the physical

Using cutting edge assessment techniques to assess you physically as well as metaphysically (that which is beyond the physical), they will look at the entire physiological load you are under and will give you the insight into any metaphysical correlations to physical symptoms you may be feeling.

And it is these that are so often overlooked by other areas of the medical profession where the most surface areas symptoms are dealt with, but wider underlying issues and causes often remain and can cause a repetition of the condition.


Holitisic Therapists have a solid knowledge base of bioenergy (the various human energy systems), the different stages of infant development, and how these correlate to physical structure, mental-emotional capacity, personality, disposition and even perception.

So here you really can begin to see that holistic in a therapy sense means ‘whole’.
