We all want to know how to improve our health, energy levels and overall wellbeing. And sometimes it can feel like a bit of demanding and time consuming task.
With our lives getting even busier, we need something easy and quick to make while keeping it nutritionally balanced.
Eating your 5 a day
RELATED: RECOMMENDED PLANS FOR YOU
We all know that eating more vegetables is one of the best ways to improve our health and digestive system.
But do we really get enough of them daily?
How about our kids? What do they have to say about eating broccoli, kale, spinach or other “yummy ” and ” weird ” looking things on their plates.
Making smoothies could be the answer
It’s easy, it’s quick and delicious. Also, unlike juicing, you get all the goodness of the vegetables and fruits as you keep fibre not just liquid and sugar – which is vital and very important especially if you want to control your blood sugar and energy levels.
Especially if you use fruits in your daily smoothie.
Smoothies that contain fruits and vegetables will provide you with a lasting source of energy.
Fruits are a good source of energy, but eaten alone will only provide short bursts of energy (they contain lots of sugars, which are quickly metabolised – digested).
Also, adding more vegetables to your smoothies will make them lower in calories and very filling. Because they contain high amounts of water and fibre, they’ll make you feel as if you just ate a full meal.
Green smoothies for weight loss
If you’re trying to lose weight, green smoothies will help fight hunger and cravings while helping the pounds melt off.
How about a chocolate smoothie?
One of my favourites and I’m sure it will get more fans after you try it. I use:
– 1/2 avocado
– 1/2 apple
– handful of spinach
– 1tbsp of raw cacao
– 1/2 glass of organic almond milk.
If you prefer it a bit more sweet, add some organic raw honey to taste. You won’t even taste any of the vegetables.
It’s creamy, delicious, filling and most importantly healthy.
Health benefits of smoothies
You will be more hydrated, nourished with vitamins and minerals. And you’ll never get bored as there are so many recipes and you can use your creativity to come up with new ones.
Best things about them is that you can adjust them specifically to your health and taste preferences.
If you are trying to burn off last few pounds of body fat, go for green smoothies that are based on vegetables. You still getting all the amazing nutritional benefits and much less sugar. But if you love your fruit, just like I do, keep those sweet smoothies to first part of the day and preferably after your exercise.
I would like to share with you another recipe and great use of your smoothie maker.
How about we make a super healthy and completely raw moose as a dessert.
How often do we feel like having something sweet after lunch or even dinner? And having cookies or 1/2 of the cheese cake sounds like taking 10 steps back from your health and fitness goals.
