You have finished your planned workouts for the week. You are now left with a few days to let your body relax and recover, but to just sit idle all day is not your thing.

So what do you do?

You take advantage of your day and have an active rest day. We know it’s good to be active every day in some way, shape, or form. An active rest day is just that being active on your days off, it does not have to be as intense or grueling as a regular workout day.

The idea is to just get you body moving. Instead of wasting your day, why not try this aerobic exercise routine. I am not a big fan of running or anything that involves doing the same thing over and over again, like for an example running.

Is running bad no but it can be very boring and repetitive for many people. What I like to do is instead of just running on the treadmill for 20 or 30 minutes is to break up the monotony a little bit. By turning the cardio equipment into a cardio equipment circuit.

What this looks like.

– Treadmill: 5 minutes

– Rowing Machine: 5 minutes

– Bike: 5 minutes Do two rounds.

You aren’t just limited to cardio equipment.

– Kettlebell Swings: 5 minutes

– Intervals Sprint 25yds

– Jog 25yds: 5 minutes

– Jump Rope: 5 minutes

Do two rounds. What I like about this is it breaks up the monotony, works multiple body parts, and works on your aerobic capacity. What’s not to like, right? Other then that it is still cardio. Give one of these aerobic exercise routines a try next time you have an active rest day you’ll be happy you did.
