You don’t have to eat less you just have to eat right!

Vitamins & Minerals

Many health food stores are crowded these days with shoppers looking for the ultimate vitamin, mineral, or supplement to enhance their health in one way or another. However, you can take any and all of these, but still might be missing an important component.

RELATED: RECOMMENDED PLANS FOR YOU

Vitamins, minerals and supplements are considered co-enzymes, which means they aid the conversion of food to energy.

The true component comes from food.

If you are not digesting your food you have wasted your efforts.

Enzymes

Every living organism has been granted a specific amount of enzymes to maintain their body and its metabolic functions.

Enzymes are the vital force that retains what we call life.

The human body contains both digestive and metabolic enzymes.

– Digestive enzymes are primarily for food digestion when the food itself can’t do the digesting.

– Metabolic enzymes are primarily for keeping your organs, glands, tissues, etc. in working order, but can be used to digest food.

When metabolic enzymes are used in excess, degenerative diseases may begin to rear their ugly heads.

Food energy vs. bodily energy

Raw food contains built in enzymes to digest food within the first fifteen minutes in your stomach.

If the food you eat does not have the necessary energy to catalyze itself to supply energy to your body, the body must draw from its own sources of energy to catalyze the food you eat thus, stealing from your systemic energy to maintain the metabolic processes in your body.

Depending on how much digestive energy the food utilizes via its own devices vs the digestive energy it draws from the body to catalyze it, is the determinant of the lifetime of your health, your cells; your life.

Metabolic digestion

Without the miraculous little energy bundles called enzymes, life would be non-existent.

It is these energetic enzymes that break down protein, carbohydrates and fats.

When food breaks down into microscopic particles, our system can continue to prosper with high amounts of energy and perform its metabolic processes that promote good health.

When enzyme potential has reached its peak, our bodies will call for help from other sources, and this is where disease and ailments begin their destructive cycle.

Physiology books will tell you that enzymes are repeatedly reproduced in the body, but this is not true.

whole foods benefits_3

Every structure in the human body has its very own enzyme to perform very specific duties.

For example: your arteries are equipped with a whopping ninety-eight unique enzymes to maintain the flow of your blood. In order for blood to flow through your system, food must be completely digested, thus allowing for the conversion to bone, glands, muscle, nerves and skin. (This is quite a masterpiece that only one intelligence could have created.)

Furthermore, your job is to reign over and take excellent care of the system that has been provided for you.

I mentioned earlier that your enzymes wear out.

If you feed your body the right food, your enzymes will remain protected. However, if you feed your body the wrong foods, the body has no choice but to ‘steal from Peter to pay Paul’.

Let me explain what I mean by this statement…

The right foods

Your digestive system begins in the mouth. The mouth contains saliva which is filled with the enzyme amylase.

Carbohydrates are the only food that can be broken down with amylase.

Food then gets transported from the mouth to the upper stomach. (The human body does indeed have an upper and lower stomach.)

The upper stomach is where food requires approximately one hour to break down food from food enzymes. Food enzymes are not found in the body, they are only found in specific foods. When food enzymes are used to break down food, your body has the opportunity to save its energy, thus protect the system.

The food then moves into the lower stomach where pepsin takes over the rest of the job. Pepsin, given to people to help digest food, is probably not the best idea. However, many doctors have prescribed this to help with sluggish digestion.

The majority of digestion happens in the upper stomach, and pepsin moves immediately into the lower stomach due to optimal pH levels.

Therefore supplementing with pepsin is not the better choice for optimal digestion of food. The better choice is food that already contains enzymes.

In Part 2 tomorrow I will have a detailed look at the whole foods benefits that are optimal for digestion and overall health and those that very definitely are not!
