That is the beauty of exploring the possibilities with new foods and ingredients. You may look to create one new thing and master that, but the spin-offs can take you in further directions and before you know it you have all manner of new elements to your culinary skills!
I know this has certainly been the case with me and I am keen to share here so you can benefit too!
This creamy rice dish is super easy and fast. Not only that, but it really easy perfect to make and freeze as it is possible to create quite a large batch with only a small amount of rice bran!
OK, so what is this one all about? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…
Rice Oh Creamy – Instructions:
- Bring 3 cups of filtered water and 1/2 tsp of salt to a boil.
- Add 1 cup rice bran and turn down the heat to low medium.
- Simmer for about 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don’t overcook it!
This will make quite a large amount; I would say about 4 servings, so as I mentioned it is ideal for freezing and keeping a good stock!
If you’re eating it right away, add some local no spray fresh fruit (i.e organic, non-pesticide), maybe some nuts (or almond meal – remember the leftovers from your nut milk? Yeah!) and 1 tbsp of milled flaxseed for a super nutritious breakfast !
It is of course great for any time of day, but what can be better than knowing you are giving yourself that morning nutritional boost and setting yourself up for the day.
Perfect to make a supply!
If you’re making it to use later, freeze it in small portions so it is easy to defrost and each one is about a portion in size. You want to take all the effort, thinking and preparation for later. Simply grab one, defrost and enjoy!
There are all kinds of vessels or even bags to portion up and store. Personally I like the small Bernadin jars. Just don’t fill all the way top the top, give the moisture some room to expand or your glass will crack. Let it breath a little!
