Dates are a particularly brownish, wrinkled fruit that is easily digested and loaded with numerous minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients. Dates include dietary fiber, moving waste from the body more rapidly. They are great for LDL (bad) cholesterol and contain powerhouse vitamins that your body needs like vitamin A, B, and K; minerals include, copper, magnesium, manganese and many more.

All this helps your body metabolize carbs, protein, and fats at an optimal rate. Beware, they are so good you may not want to stop, so stay grounded while you consciously chew on these delectable treats. Dates are an ideal alternative to refined sugar.

Chewing into this kind of goodness promotes your health rather than leading to cavities or breakouts – a common white sugar reaction. Even better, these date-ridden energy balls are filled with other nutrient dense ingredients like almonds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, and essential oil.


Energy balls with dates

Makes 15-20 balls, depending on shape and size

– 1 cup of medjool dates (pit and cut up into pieces)
– ½ cup of almond meal (or almonds)
– ½ cup of coconut flour
– ½ cup of sunflower seed butter
– 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
– 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds
– 2 tablespoons of shredded coconut (unsweetened)
– 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
– ½ teaspoon of Himalayan salt
– 2 drops of doTERRA essential oil (or lemon zest)

This no-bake treat is easy to make.

Simply stir the ingredients and using your hands, make into round balls.

Place into an airtight container and refrigerate for about 30 minutes (stays good for about 1-week in the refigerator).
