When purchasing high quality matcha, it can be very versatile as an additive to smoothies, warm drinks and cold teas. The most basic way to prepare matcha green-tea is a simple hot tea.

Hot Matcha

1 Serving

6-8 ounces filtered water
1-2 teaspoons matcha green-tea powder
1 teaspoon honey

Heat water in a small pot over low temperature on the stove.  Heat until the water is just beginning to get hot but not boiling.  Pour into a mug and stir in matcha and honey until dissolved.  Enjoy while hot.  If you prefer a latte, add your favorite dairy or non-dairy beverage as well.

Green Matcha Smoothie

1 Serving

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 cups spinach
1 frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 teaspoon matcha green-tea powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender and mix until blended.  Add ice if a thicker consistency is desired.

Matcha Lemonade

2 Servings

2 cups hot water; not boiling
2 teaspoons matcha green-tea powder
3-4 lemons, juiced
2 tablespoons honey
3 cups cold water

Mix matcha and honey into hot water, stir until dissolved. Add cold water and ice.  Serve with a few slices of lemon.

Matcha Peanut Butter Energy Balls

36 balls at approximately 60 calories each   

1 cup chocolate protein powder
2 teaspoons matcha green-tea powder
1 cup all-natural peanut butter
1/2 cup raw honey
1/2 cup oat bran

Mix all ingredients together.  Shape into 1 inch round balls.  Place onto a parchment lined dish and refrigerate overnight.  Store in the refrigerator for best quality.

My final thoughts

Considering matcha is a food, and foods are not meant to be over-cooked via heat and time, I would suggest keeping the temperatures low and cooking times to a minimal.
