It’s no secret that coconut oil is a superfood, but for many, they might be unsure how best to use it. Coconut oil seems to make a great addition to the kitchen, but when you see people rubbing it on their legs, it can get confusing fast!

That’s the great thing about coconut oil – it isn’t like other oils that only belong in the kitchen. Coconut oil can be used in every area of your home.

When people think about coconut oil, we would imagine their first thought is the kitchen. Coconut oil is a cooking oil and can be used as such. Coconut oil has a high smoke temperature, about 450 degrees. Therefore, it can be used for both frying and deep-frying.

Coconut oil is considered to be one of the healthier oils so it can be used in healthier recipes. For example, try making a ginger coconut oil salad dressing for lunch or add it to your smoothie bowl to give it that beautiful shine.

If you are looking to improve your overall health, there are several ways you can do so with coconut oil.

For starters, if you are dealing with some extra weigh coconut oil might be the perfect solution. Coconut oil can be added to recipes or replace other types of oil in recipes to create a feeling of satiety. Coconut oil can make you feel fuller than other oils and it digests over a longer period which makes you eat less. Additionally, eating coconut oil can help you burn more calories throughout the day.

The kidney and liver are without a doubt the most important organs you have, so why not take an extra step to protect them? Coconut oil is full of medium-chain triglycerides and fatty acids that can protect these organs against disease. Additionally, it can help the gallbladder and pancreatitis by providing relief and protecting them against various diseases.

Speaking of the gallbladder and the pancreas, the digestive system can also be protected by coconut oil. The Lauric acid and monolaurin in coconut oil contain many properties that are antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiviral. They can fight and deal with various bacterias and parasites which will keep you and your digestive system healthier for longer.

It is no secret that coconut oil holds a host of nutritional benefits. However, it would be a shame to limit coconut oil to the kitchen since it can be very helpful in the bathroom too. Coconut oil can absorb very easily into the skin and a lot of the benefits can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Whether you are looking to kill the bacteria in your mouth or add some shine to your hair, coconut could be your new best friend in the bathroom!

Coconut oil can be used in conjunction with other ingredients such as charcoal or baking soda to create a natural but powerful toothpaste. Additionally, it can be used as is for oil pulling.

If you are happy with your current oral regimen, you can use it as a skincare product. It has a decent amount of Vitamin E which can be great for protecting your skin from the sun. It also promotes the healing of scars and stretch marks as well as provides basic moisturizing.

This is where the living room comes in! If you have a dog, you probably already know that coconut oil to dogs is like catnip to cats! They just can’t seem to resist it and luckily they don’t have to. Coconut oil has many benefits for dogs whether you use it topically or give it to them to ingest.

If your dog has rough or sensitive skin or is having some trouble with their coat, you can apply coconut directly to the skin and fur. Depending on the problem, coconut oil can add some relief and comfort to your dog.

Check with your veterinarian to ensure that the coconut oil won’t make any conditions worse before applying it.

Coconut oil makes a great ingredient to add to homemade dog treats or homemade dog food. It contains a lot of fatty acids such as Lauric acid which is good at boosting and building the immune system. If your dog has been sneezing recently, you might want to load them up on some coconut oil treats. If you aren’t the baker that is okay, you can simply give them a small amount to lick off their treats or toys.

This might come as a surprise, but coconut oil can come in quite handy for home improvement projects as well as cleaning.

If you have a butcher block or cutting board that is looking very dull and roughed up, you can bring the wood grain back to life by rubbing it down with some coconut oil. Simply apply the oil as you would stain and let it shine.

In addition to cutting boards, you can also apply coconut oil to your kitchen cabinets and furniture if they are lacking some life. Use a soft cloth and massage the oil into the surface until the dullness is gone.

Other than bringing life back into your wood products, coconut oil can make a great cleaning agent. Due to its fatty acids that can kill bacteria, it can be used in some of the most important areas of your home. If your sinks are stained or are looking nasty, you can rub a small amount of coconut oil on the sink to make it clean. Make sure the sink is freshly cleaned and dry so that the oil can absorb into the material.

You can also use this method to clean cookie sheets and enamel kitchenware. Some have even used coconut oil to season their cast iron cookware. Use a thin coat and wipe it off with a soft cotton cloth or paper towel. You shouldn’t cover the cast iron until it looks oily, but just enough that it lightly covers the surface.
