Of course you know that what you eat is just as important as your washing/cleansing routine and what you actually put on your skin. Clever stuff skin.

When you’re a baby it fits perfectly and as you grow to stretches with you. But it needs to be nourished and looked after, whether you’re in the sunshine or wind and rain.

Let’s face it if it’s cold outside the heating is on and if it’s warm, outside the air conditioning is on.

Poor skin.

It gets a rough deal. So like I say not only must you be very aware of what you’re putting on the outer layer but also what you’re putting inside. In other words what you eat is very important to ensure clear healthy skin and the best way to do that is make sure you’re eating the right foods and cutting down (or maybe even cutting out the bad stuff) You probably don’t need me to tell you what’s bad but I will anyway.

Fried foods, spicy foods, too much alcohol, smoking are all horrendously bad for you. Not only do they do terrible things to your insides but you’ll notice they don’t much help the outside either.

So,let ‘s take a look at some foods that are going to make you feel good, help your system work perfectly, eradicate things like constipation and heartburn and give you that wonderful clear complexion you know you deserve.

So first up are berries.

Not only are they jam packed with anti oxidants which totally help keep the skin clear but they’re full of fibre as well, which also helps due to the fact that if you’re constipated your skin will not look good. Herb teas, like peppermint which everyone knows is good for digestion. Plus did you know that peppermint tea is also great for weight loss, sinus relief, stress relief. And if you suffer from hormonal skin problems such as acne, peppermint tea could be a natural solution.

Peppermint tea offers a slight boost in estrogen levels to some drinkers, which can help curb these hormonal problems and aid in clearing up acne.

If you really want to make sure that you’re reaping all the benefits, try adding peppermint tea to your bath water. It can help soothe burns and rashes as well as other skin inflammations.

Wow how amazing is that?

Nettle tea minimizes skin problems, lessens nausea, apparently can cure a cold, helps alleviate diarrhoea, destroys intestinal worms or parasites.

All of which will certainly help you keep that lovely skin, well lovely. Nuts. To you too! All sorts of nuts are good for you and keeping your skin clear. Deficiencies in minerals such as zinc and selenium have been linked to acne in some sufferers, which is why nuts – in particular pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts – are a good, healthy snack to get used to.

Selenium helps to actively increase the number of infection-fighting white blood cells in the body and strengthens their fighting power, while vitamin E, copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium and iron are all essential to skin health and function.

See what I mean about yummy?

You’ll like this one. Tomatoes have masses of Vitamin C which means they help keep your skin firm by aiding collagen production. And if that weren’t enough they also have lycopene, the red pigment which helps with the stimulation of the skin, giving it that lovely clear look.

Next on this list is water.

Well we know about water. Drinking water will flush your kidneys of all those nasty toxins. Water will help you lose weight (drink a glass of water before meal will help make you feel fuller so you eat less).

Water is great for just hydrating and helps get rid of headaches. The happy side effect of all this is that water will aid in eliminating constipation and heartburn making sure that your insides are working correctly and that your skin will benefit too. You will find your skin is clearer and you will have more energy. So lots of benefits there then.

Of course no article on good foods to eat for a clear skin would be complete without mentioning the delicious avocado.

Fabulously good for you, full of fibre and an excellent source of vitamins, avocados are definitely good for helping keep that skin beautiful and clear. Omega 3 and 6. You will find omega-3s in oily fish and plant sources such as flaxseed oil, linseeds, walnut and rapeseed oil. Omega-3 fats encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help skin, particularly inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

And while you’re eating your fish, nuts, seeds, shellfish it’s also worth noting at this point that they all contain zinc, which helps in the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands in the skin and helps to repair skin damage and keep skin soft and supple. Zinc can also be found in whole grains, poultry and lean red meat.

So there you have it, beautiful clear skin and a healthy happy body, what more could you want?

Enjoy
